Wildlife World
Posted by Sean under Australia , Creatures , Photos , Sydney
I love animals. It may not seem like it from this blog, but I really do. I don’t actually think I will be eaten by shark or bitten by a snake, but I am honestly amazed at the incredible variety and sheer quantity of animals that can kill you in Australia. It really is astounding. So last week on my birthday Amanda and I spent the day together and ended up at one of Sydney’s newest places to take your money, Wildlife World in Darling Harbour. Bonus: I saved 20% because I paid with an HSBC card. No idea why, but I’m not complaining.
Kind of a random thing to do on your birthday but I must say I really enjoyed marvelling at the deadliest snakes, spiders, and koala bears. I spent a lot of time studying what the Eastern Brown snake as it’s been biting people like we’re going out of style.

What a nice way to spend your birthday! I was hoping you would include a picture of the butterfly enclosure which I found fascinating.

Stumbled across your blog on a Google search. And being a ‘new’ Aussie myself can relate to the stories and the pure awe that this continent imposes! Even though I am from Africa, there are creatures here that freak me out!
Loving the humour so hoping to visit more often! If I bring my HSBC card do i get frequent flier miles!??

Thanks Mags! And actually it’s not Asian. According to wikipedia:
The taipan was named by Donald Thompson after the word used by the Wik Mungkan Aboriginal people of central Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia.
I’ll see if I can find one for you to give to dereck.
