I Come From A Land Down Under
Posted by Sean under AustraliaWell not really. But that reference was inevitable. Earlier today I realized that this blog has now been here just over a YEAR. I missed my one year blog anniversary by three days! Lame. But I do have some news to report. As I previously mentioned here and here Amanda and I recently went through the whole “prove your relationship is real and maybe Australia won’t kick Sean out” procedure. And guess what?
This blog will have to be called Notes from the Old Country!
I kid.
Australia friggin’ loves me and wants me to stay. Today I was granted my temporary resident spouse visa! So now I don’t have to worry about any silly work restrictions and I can enroll in Medicare. This medicare thing is a major bonus as just this week I’ve managed to stab myself in the hand with our kitchen floor, get stung by something (maybe a bit of dead jellyfish???) on the bottom of my foot while walking on Bondi Beach, AND went jogging for the first time ever which nearly caused a massive coronary.
Needless to say we are happy campers around these parts. Except for the coronary.

Hey there. I found your site at “Yanks Down Under”. I’m just waiting on DIMA for my Temporary Spouse Visa as well. Congratulations! (Reading through your archives has been great. Glad to know I’m not the only one who notices the Australian quirks.)
