Laneway / Broken Social Scene wrap
OK, so now that I have upgraded my flickr account and put photos up I can put this past weekend to rest now. Mostly. Saturday night’s Broken Social Scene show at the Metro…a few days later remains absolutely unbelievable. And it’s not just me:
Amanda “saw a performance like nothing I’ve seen before.” (Make sure you check her gallery for the best photos of the show)
“I’ve seen some pretty amazing gigs in my life, but this concert was both the best concert I have ever seen, and one of the most amazing things to happen in my life. It was the last show of the tour, and so maybe they just blew the lid of it, but from the first strains of the first song, I felt like someone had set me alight and I burned for 2 hours and 45 glorious minutes. I have never been swept away by a band like I was that night,” said Transitory.net.
“The best live show I’ve ever seen…” proclaims Aropax Nation.
Another Sean thinks the Metro gig “would easily rate in my top 3 gigs of all time.”
Even Dave in Melbourne “may never shower again.” (OK so that was a different show…whatev)
Some more of my (mostly crap) Broken Social Scene photos are up here (including Laneway photos).
The rest of my Laneway photos are here.
Check back here in the next few days for a Broken Social Scene bootleg for you to download (not Sydney sadly).

And finally, just two little things.
A friend of mine from uni is currently interning at Spin magazine in New York and she wrote this great little piece on some up and coming Vancouver bands (including free downloads!). Congratulations Kaitlin! (Thanks Quinn)
The funniest thing I’ve seen on the net in ages. And it’s Natalie Portman…so extra bonus. (If it’s not working it means NBC forced YouTube to remove it. Again.)

The Popfrenzy Afloat boat cruise was heaps of fun too. Jens was great – though it would have been better with a bit of dancing – Les Savy Fav and The Gossip were off the hook, plus god, listening to great bands on a boat on a magical evening on Sydney Harbour, does it get better?

Yes it does…at the Metro with BSS!
I so wish those 2 events had not been on the same night. I REALLY wanted to see Jens Lekman.

Hi Sean,
No idea how you found my little blog, but I fully agree with you. It was truely amazing, and I’m still kinda on a high from it.
Thanks for the photos, and you don’t happen to know anyone who was bootlegging the show, do you?
Let me know next time you are at a concert, I’ll say hi!

Hey Jordan,
Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who taped the show and I doubt it got taped. But who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky. I’m going to put up a different but recent BSS show on the site tomorrow or the next day though.
(And I found you through links to my site).
Not sure at the moment what the next concert is.
