Gotye Announces Australian Tour & Remix Album

Wally de Backer will be taking a bit of a break from his duties behind the kit for The Basics in July and August when his other musical project, Gotye, hits the road for dates around the country. Poor timing for me as I’ll be overseas when Gotye hits Sydney. I am seriously tempted to go down to Melbourne to catch a show there.
Just a couple reasons this tour kicks ass:
1. 9 PIECE MINI ORCHESTRA
2. All ages shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Yay for the kiddies.
Gotye Tour Dates:
July 27 – Fly By Night, Perth
July 28 – The Metro, Sydney
July 29 – The Metro, Sydney (all ages afternoon show)
August 3 – The Powerhouse, Brisbane
August 9 – The Governor Hindmarsh, Adelaide
August 11 – The Athenaeum, Melbourne
August 12 – The Athenaeum, Melbourne (all ages afternoon show)
Tickets on sale 9am May 18. Full details in the press release.
Another piece of good news on the Gotye front is that a remix and covers album, Mixed Blood, featuring reworking of tracks off the much praised Like Drawing Blood is on the way. Not sure what the covers will entail at this point. Perhaps this Faux Pas remix will finally see a proper release.

Interesting note; Tim Shiel aka Faux Pas did the artwork for Like Drawing Blood, and also The Basics’ Girls Like You EP.

Oh thanks Tim, maybe he was just being overabundant in his crediting. You did the art for the Girls Like You Ep though didn’t you?

Next week’s Shifted Sound podcast will feature music and interview with Wally! It’s an hour of Gotye music (including one off of Mixed Blood and two from the Basics) as well as a couple Faux Pas and Karnivool tracks he picked to play. He also talks a bit about the tours. Check it out if you’re interested.
