The E.L.F.
While local legends Gerling may be taking a hiatus for a while, that doesn’t mean there isn’t any new music coming out from those boys. And Darren Cross has struck first. He’s working on a new project called The E.L.F. (< --- check out The E.L.F. "party starter" on their MySpace...the Ronettes kick ass) and the first track kicking around has been stuck in my head all week.
The song is called Cockroaches and, for some reason, it reminds me of Cornershop's cult classic When I Was Born For the Seventh Time... I think it's the incredibly catchy, repetitive sample. The song's got a great beat and it fuses electronic and rock elements really well (a la Sound of Silver). Anyway, I've really been digging this track lately. Check it out.
