Deloris @ Spectrum, Sydney

Melbourne’s Deloris returned to Sydney last night for the first time since the release of their most recent album, Ten Lives. I saw them back in August at the Hoey as they previewed songs from the record and last night…well I was just as unfamiliar with the songs as I’ve still not heard the record.
The band played a stack of stuff off the new record and a few oldies as well. The Unbroke Part of It was, again, a highlight as was a rocking version of Loup Garou. But I found myself really enjoying a lot of the new stuff, even if I didn’t know it. Clever lyrics and concise pop songs galore! If you enjoy Augie March and Dappled Cities Fly then Deloris may fit nicely into your CD collection (I will be picking up the album very soon methinks). Perhaps one of the more underrated bands in this country.

My camera battery died…so that blurry shot is all I have. I really suck at keeping that thing charged. Other Deloris photos of mine here.

I thought they were excellent. If ‘The Unbroke Part of It’ isn’t the closest thing to Built To Spill, I don’t know what is.. Probably a sxsw trip away from finding more fame.
