Australia, Meet Leeroy Stagger

The rural outskirts of British Columbia is a place where desperation lurks and the bars are full of broken-hearted dreamers wondering what the hell’s happened to them. Raised here by his grandparents and his mechanic-father, it’s no wonder that an air of domestic discord and dreams of white picket fences charge the song craft of one Leeroy Stagger.
So begins Leeory Stagger’s bio on Boompa’s site and I must say it’s certainly an intriguing description of an artist from my part of the world. Quinn has been driving the Leeroy bandwagon for ages now and once again proves he has impeccable taste in music. Stagger’s music blends acoustic folk-rock, alt-country, and southern rock…*Sixeyes even went so far as to call Stagger ‘Canada’s Ryan Adams’; and that’s not a bad description. Well crafted songs, great lyrics, and some pretty engaging melodies all make this singer-songwriter one to watch.
Stagger’s most recent album Depression River (his third full-length and he’s only 24!) was released a few months ago in Canada and it will see a US release next month. There are bigger things ahead for Stagger, so join us on the bandwagon now. And bring the whiskey.
