National Anthem of Nowhere

With 2006 wrapping up, I am starting to get excited about all the albums I expect will be dominating my iPod and stereo next year. One of those records is National Anthem of Nowhere by Apostle of Hustle. I’m not sure who fills out the band these days, but Apostle of Hustle is essentially the work of Andrew Whiteman who plays guitar Broken Social Scene. He’s the one who looked damn cool playing the guitar when you last saw BSS. And while I’ve not seen any mention of this anywhere, I’d say it’s a safe bet some of your favourite Arts & Crafters (Kevin Drew, Feist, etc) will be helping out on this record.
The first Apostle of Hustle album was a bit of a grower for me, but I am very much looking forward to the new one. And the kind folks at Arts & Crafts have made the first track of the album available as a free download. I’ve also uploaded a live version of ‘National Anthem of Nowhere’ by Broken Social Scene if you want another taster of what’s to come. Grab them below:

The record will be released in early February in Canada and the following month in the U.S. Not sure about an Australian release at this point. I’ll see if I can find anything. Maybe a kind friend can send it on to me.

I think Andrew Whiteman is a remarkable guitarist so I’m definitely looking forward to the new CD.
