Jeff Buckley & Elizabeth Fraser Duet

I was reading in Drum today of a Tim and Jeff Buckley tribute night at The Basement this Friday and was shocked to realize that Jeff Buckley would have been 40 on November 17. What would he be doing now if he hadn’t died so young? Perhaps something like this duet he did with his friend Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins. ‘All Flowers In Time Bend Towards the Sun’ was never released and only performed a couple of times (including the only performance with the band at Jeff’s last Sydney show at the Coogee Bay Hotel in 1996). Below is a recording that I know nothing about. I don’t know where you can find it, where it was recorded, or when. All I know is that it’s Jeff and Elizabeth and an acoustic guitar. And it’s brilliant.

Someone with a much less beautiful voice than Jeff Buckley is me. If you want to hear for yourself, I’ll be on Matt’s radio show Join The Dots tomorrow (Thursday) night on FBi (listen online here). I’ll be on just before 10pm talking about the Australia’s Top 25 Bands & Artists list. No idea what I’m going to say really. In the comments feel free to nominate an awkward word you’d like me to work into a conversation and I will try and do one or two (maybe). Be random. And tune in and see if you can join the dots.

You should inform the general public about the powers of Aus music blogs, and tempt them to join our dark side.
Then we can rule the empire!

[...] You should really hear his duet with Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins, it remains officially unreleased but is a wonderful meeting of voices: Jeff Buckley and Liz Fraser All Flowers In Time Bend Towards The Sun [...]

I know it’s probably uncool to blow your own trumpet on these forums but it is a beautiful song and I recorded a version of All Flowers In Time… for a locally released Jeff Buckley Tribute album called Stars In My Belly. It is hard to get now because Jeff’s management were none to keen on us releasing an unreleased song and shut it all down. But there you go it is out there in some folks homes.
