The Clash. Live. 1976.

The Clash’s third show. The first known recording of a Clash gig. Malcolm Maclaren. On after the Buzzcocks. On before the Sex Pistols. Needless to say, this gig is historic. You can listen to punk arrive in the UK on August 29, 1976. And to top it all off, the sound quality isn’t all that bad.
In addition to the historical significance of this gig for The Clash and punk, the set itself holds a lot of interest for Clash fans. A number of the songs from this gig were never recorded by the band so there might be something new here for even hardcore Clash fans (I had never heard six songs from this concert before). Plus, you get a chance to hear a version of Mick’s ‘I’m So Bored With You’ before Joe decided it might sound better with some new lyrics.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t at that gig, living out in the provinces as I did in those days, but I’m old enough to have seen The Clash 4 times between ’77 and ’80. So thanks for that!
Plus, as Joe Strummer once said, when talking about that slightly ‘awkward’ way of speaking he had: ‘The only band that muttered’.

Nice show! Unfortunately, I could only get tracks 5-9. The rest have expired. Any chance of a repost? Thanks!
