Young and Restless @ Candy’s Apartment, Sydney

So last night I made my first venture into King’s Cross (so THAT’S where Sydney hides all her prostitutes!) and, by extension, my first time to Candy’s Apartment. Cool venue. I had never seen Young and Restless before and I enjoyed their short but aggressive set. If Death from Above mated with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs circa 2002 they might spawn a band that sounds like Young and Restless. I mean that in a good way of course. Download some Young and Restless mp3s here.
The Paper Scissors played earlier and I was also impressed with them. Tight songs and a saxophone that didn’t annoy me (RARE) were enough ensure that I keep an eye on them in the future. They have a gig at Spectrum on the 23rd if you want to check them out before they head into the studio for a while.
Please please please make sure you check out Brown Cardigan’s take on the show…I’m in total agreement regarding the crowd. And how often do you come across the phrase ‘after DJ Hipster TossBag finished his set’. Mike was there too but he’s too lazy to write. Or something. And I saw Dan without his camera. I almost didn’t recognize him.

I think that’d be the funniest and most accurate descript of Y&R ive heard. Twas certainly a top show. Sadly I didnt get there until just as Y&R were finishing up.
It was certainly a major turn out for Aussie bloggers which was great. I dont think I met you though…
anyways I’m Pix from whiteboydancefloor. i too thought the venue was top notch, very intricate.

Hey Pix,
I’ve been meaning to add you guys for a while now…I suck. And no we didn’t meet…I sat in a darkened corner most of the night.
