Album #17: Kingdom Of Rust by Doves
Years and years ago I remember hearing or reading a description of Supergrass that stated they were, “Nobody’s favourite band” and I feel the same could be said of Doves: they’re a solid band who seldom disappoint but they seem to lack that intangible element that sparks devotion. This pretty much describes Kingdom Of Rust, a record I did enjoy a lot this year but not one I completely adore. Its opener Jetstream, however, is bloody fantastic.

I don’t know why I like this song so much but I cannot get enough of it lately. Actually, I blame the synths.
