25 for 2009: Twenty
Album #20: Fantasies by Metric
If I’d had more than a couple days with it, the new Charlotte Gainsbourg would be here and in a few months I will likely regret having Fantasies on the list. But here it is. Metric aimed for the middle with this record – there’s no denying that. But at least a few of the songs on Fantasies really stuck with me this year, including album opener, Help I’m Alive. Metric sound incredibly confident on Fantasies; it will be interesting to see where they take their expanding audience next.
