Odawas | The Blue Depths

So a few months back, Odawas latest record, The Blue Depths, made its way into solid nighttime rotation around these parts. At first I didn’t give the album much of chance (there’s not a lot to grab onto at first) but after Joe praised the record (much to his own bafflement) I gave it another try. And then The Blue Depths clicked.
This record is the sonic equivalent of thick honey slowly, slowly oozing downwards. The vocals are heavily treated, no tempo eclipses lethargic, and there is enough reverb here to make all of Pink Floyd’s early ’70s records hang their heads in shame. I’m not sure how often I’ll listen to this record in the light of day but it really is a fantastic record to put on as you’re drifting off to sleep.
