Album #15: Promises Promises by Die! Die! Die!
While technically a 2007 release, Die! Die! Die!’s Promises Promises wasn’t released outside their native New Zealand until this year. So here it is. The finest collection of short, aggressive, punk songs I heard in 2008. Get on this one, people. And please please please go see them live. They are insane.

Song #14: L.E.S. Artistes & Lights Out by Santogold
Very seldom are the two best pop songs of the year from the same record but Santogold managed to do it this year (and I really could not choose one over the other). Santi is the real deal.
