The Drones unleash Havilah

To say I am looking forward to Havilah, the new album by The Drones, is an understatement. Since moving to Australia in 2005, The Drones have quickly become one of my favourite Australian bands. They are devastating live, they write some incredible music, and they carry a sense of import, sincerity, and gravity unlike any other band in Australia.
The first single from the record is called The Minotaur and it certainly seems to indicate the band have written another record that will ensure “album of the year” type statements.

Havilah will be released by ATP on September 20. The tracklisting looks like this:
1. Nail It Down
2. The Minotaur
3. The Drifting Housewife
4. I Am The Supercargo
5. Careful As You Go
6. Oh My
7, Cold And Sober
8. Luck In Odd Numbers
9. Penumbra
10. Your Acting’s Like The End Of The World
The band are currently learning how to play the record live over here in North America (I’m home in Vancouver for a visit at the moment) before coming home to Australia for a tour later this year. Sadly the band aren’t playing Vancouver this time around but they will be playing Seattle on August 24 at the Tractor Tavern…a place I’ve never heard of. If I wasn’t down in Seattle three days before for Radiohead I’d be at that show in a heartbeat. They really are pretty special live. Full dates here.
