Album #18: Through the Windowpane by Guillemots

With some absolutely stellar EPs preceding this record, Guillemots had a lot to live up to. And while they didn’t quite reach the lofty heights with their debut that I thought they might, they did release a fun, heartfelt record I still find myself taken with. And with ‘Trains to Brazil’, one of my favourite songs of recent years, the record really couldn’t completely fail no matter what they did. I’m very interested to see where this young band heads next.
This song actually isn’t on the album…but it’s great too. Check it out if you’ve not heard it.

Song #18: Cheated Hearts by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I first heard this song live long before the record was released and even then it seemed like one of the catchiest/poppiest things the Yeah Yeah Yeahs had ever done. I just love the melody. The Karen O. crush continues…

Yea I do like that “Trains to Brazil” track. Very catchy and feel-good. Great series by the way, am always looking to expand my musical boundaries.
