I started a new job (sort of) this week so my weeks of blissful unemployment have come to an end. But on the bright side, my visa was approved and I won’t be kicked out of this country anytime soon which means this blog shall remain an Australian music blog. Yay!
And speaking of Australian music blogs run by Canadians, Graham just moved to Melbourne and he has a very eclectic/extensive record/mp3 collection by the looks of it. And on top of that he’s a great writer. And on top of THAT he frequently writes about hip-hop, a genre under-represented in blog land. Anyways, you should check his site out. He’s even got a pretty kickass mixtape up right now. Welcome to Australia Graham.
And welcome back to Stove who’s back from Europe. Check his Sydney music blog here.
In show news, I was surprised at how happy I was that the New Pornographers are coming (thanks for the heads up Sean). I’ve often called myself the worst Vancouver ‘indie’ fan as I’m not really into them (or Destroyer for that matter) but I do think I will be checking out one of their Sydney shows.

Mass Romantic (off Mass Romantic)
In other show news, thanks to Rocking Hoarse I think I will be heading out to Red Eye on Saturday afternoon to catch a free show by Red Riders. Details here.
And John Vanderslice is opening for The Mountain Goats at the Metro in January. I’ve seen Mr Vanderslice once before (opening for Beulah…on Halloween…and I think Beulah’s lead singer wanted to kill me for “macking” on his girlfriend in the crowd….but I digress). Anyway, John Vanderslice was great. Plus he puts TONS of mp3s up on his site for FREE.

The 2007 Laneway Festival line-up will be announced on Friday. It will make Big Day Out look lame! Check the MySpace for the lineup on Friday. Camera Obscura, The Knife….any other rumours?
Drowned In Sound continues its top 66 albums of the last 6 years. Muse? Really?
And finally, don’t let bad reviewers (me!) prevent you from buying The Drones album.

My expectations are so high for Laneway, I’m kinda scared of being disappointed.
